Dakota had won three straight on the road, but on Wednesday they bumped their record up to 19-7-1 to make it four. They had just enough and edged out the Chippewa Valley Big Reds 7-5. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Big Reds recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

As for Chippewa Valley, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 14-11-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat they have suffered since April 29th.

For Chippewa Valley's part, Landon Simpson was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave Simpson a new career-low in walks (zero).

On the hitting side, Chippewa Valley saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Kaul, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
