Recap: Oak Ridge Pioneers vs. Reynoldsburg Raiders
The Oak Ridge Pioneers came tearing into Monday's match with 15 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 75-73 victory over Reynoldsburg. Given Oak Ridge's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked fifth in Florida, while Reynoldsburg is ranked 43rd in Ohio), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oak Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamier Jones led the charge by dropping a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. Jones also posted eight assists for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Tillery, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Oak Ridge's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-2. As for Reynoldsburg, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-4.
Oak Ridge will take on Osceola at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Osceola's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matchups. As for Reynoldsburg, they will head out on the road to challenge Pickerington Central at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
