Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Murphy). They claimed a resounding 61-0 victory over the Blount Leopards. Considering the Panthers have won four contests by more than 24 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Zoye Jones had an outrageously good game as she threw for 144 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of her passes, and also rushed for 70 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. Jakiyah Cowans was another key player, picking up 63 receiving yards and two TDs.
Another reason for the win was Murphy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut JaMariah Woodruff.
Murphy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Murphy will challenge Chickasaw at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Blount does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
