Baseball Game Preview: Clarence Red Devils vs. Niagara Falls Wolverines

The Clarence Red Devils are taking a road trip to challenge the Niagara Falls Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clarence's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Niagara Falls' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Clarence nor Lancaster made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Red Devils fell just short of the Legends by a score of 3-2. The Red Devils have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, while Niagara Falls put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Lockport. The Wolverines blew past the Lions 12-0. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won 13 contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Andrew Brydges's shutout, as he gave up just two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Niagara Falls let Nicholas Ligammari and Trevor Meidenbauer run wild. Ligammari went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI, while Meidenbauer went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most hits Meidenbauer has posted since back in May of 2024. Matthew Brydges was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one stolen base.

Niagara Falls' victory bumped their record up to 15-2. As for Clarence, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.

Everything went Clarence's way against Niagara Falls when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Clarence made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Devils since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
