Softball Recap: Avon Victorious

Avon proved they can win big on Monday (they won by seven) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won by a run and slipped past the Honeoye Falls-Lima Cougars 1-0.

The result came thanks to Jessie Crye's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than 13 strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Avon secured the victory behind a pair of hitters. One of them was Rylie Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Avon pushed their record up to 13-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Honeoye Falls-Lima, their loss dropped their record down to 9-9.

Avon does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Honeoye Falls-Lima, they will square off against Rush-Henrietta at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday. The Cougars are facing the Royal Comets at the right time seeing as the Royal Comets are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
