Baseball Recap: Declo Takes a Loss

Declo had lost 12 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 1-15 to make it 13. They fell just short of the Soda Springs Cardinals by a score of 9-8. The Hornets were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cardinals earlier this season, when they won 8-7.

Kyle Bott made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Race Zollinger, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.

As for Soda Springs, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-9-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 19, 2024.

On Soda Springs' side, the team relied heavily on Stoney Irick, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Those three RBI gave Irick a new career-high. Elijah Dillworth was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Coming up, Declo will take on Lighthouse Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Soda Springs does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
