Basketball Recap: Apex Comes Up Short

Apex was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They fell 53-44 to the Green Hope Falcons. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cougars of the 72-54 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Apex lost, don't look at Zaelyn White. Despite the final result, he went 7 for 17 on his way to 17 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Scott, who went 5 of 9 en route to 12 points.

Green Hope's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ian Hazard led the charge by going 6 for 10 on his way to 13 points and eight boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kody Frey, who went 6 of 15 en route to 15 points and eight rebounds.

Apex's loss dropped their record down to 2-13. As for Green Hope, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 8-7.

Apex wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 71-51 defeat against Green Level on the 24th. Green Hope has also already played their next game, a 66-56 win against Middle Creek on the 24th.
