McGavock is on a six-game streak of home wins, while Overton is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Raiders will host the Bobcats at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
McGavock's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over Hunters Lane.
Amanda Toth made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Toth was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Makenzie Kilby, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Jasmine Dahl was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Overton). Everything went their way against Antioch on Thursday as they made off with a 20-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Bears: they've now won eight in a row.
Like McGavock, Overton also got a great game from a two-way player: Kaliyha Finley-Gray. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. Finley-Gray has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Overton got a massive performance out of Ella Meacham, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Trista Norris, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two doubles.
Overton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in 11 consecutive games.
McGavock has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.9 runs over those games. As for Overton, their victory bumped their record up to 10-4.
McGavock might still be hurting after the 16-4 loss they got from Overton in their previous meeting last Monday. Will the Raiders have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
