Basketball Recap: Angola Extends Winning Streak to Three

Angola won the last time they faced Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger and things went their way on Saturday too. The Angola Hornets came out on top against the Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger Saints by a score of 45-37. The victory was nothing new for the Hornets as they're now sitting on three straight.

It was another big night for Bailey Holman, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Karleigh Gillen, who posted eight points and five steals.

Angola smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Despite the loss, Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Izzie Eke had 17 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Eke a new career-high in blocks (three). Kaite Keefer was another key player, putting up five points and eight rebounds.

Angola has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 12-8 record this season. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.

Angola will challenge Bellmont at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Bellmont will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Angola surely won't give up without a fight. As for Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger, they will host Leo at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
