Football Game Preview: Sunlake Seahawks vs. Fivay Falcons

The Sunlake Seahawks will head out to square off against the Fivay Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sunlake's defense has only allowed 5.6 points per game this season, so Fivay's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Sunlake will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up 12 points on Thursday, then bounced right back against Cypress Creek on Monday. The Seahawks took their match with ease, bagging a 37-0 victory over the Coyotes. The Seahawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by 20 points or more this season.

Kate Smith produced another solid effort throwing for 194 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of her passes, and also rushing for 60 yards and one TD. Her passing game has become a key predictor of Sunlake's success: the team is undefeated when her passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise. Miley Falby was Smith's top target, picking up 88 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

Another reason for the win was Sunlake's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Leading the way was Charlotte Stryker with three.

Meanwhile, Fivay was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They took a 26-7 bruising from River Ridge.

Fivay's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Sunlake, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
