Baseball Recap: Lyons Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Lyons can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with an 8-4 victory over the Dundee/Bradford Central BraveScots.

Cole Burnett was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Those 15 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Austin Rice, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Brady Bastian was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Lyons' win bumped their record up to 4-13. As for Dundee/Bradford Central, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-5.

Coming up, Lyons will venture away from home to take on Sodus at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season. As for Dundee/Bradford Central, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Naples at 5:00 p.m.
