Baseball Game Preview: Alhambra Moors vs. Pasadena Bulldogs

The Alhambra Moors will take on the Pasadena Bulldogs in a tournament on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Friday, Alhambra made easy work of South Pasadena and carried off a 9-2 victory. That's two games straight that the Moors have won by exactly seven runs.

Alhambra got a great performance from Jacob Hightower as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.

At the plate, Jacob Rodriguez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Daniel Gonzalez was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Pasadena had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 10-6 win over Cathedral on Friday.

Adrian Oseguera made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Oseguera was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bruno Pierandozzi, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Ian Van Zyl, who scored a run and stole two bases.

Alhambra was able to grind out a solid victory over Pasadena in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. Will Alhambra repeat their success, or does Pasadena have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
