Basketball Game Preview: DeMotte Christian Knights vs. Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks

DeMotte Christian is 9-1 against Hammond Academy of Science & Tech since February of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The DeMotte Christian Knights will welcome the Hammond Academy of Science & Tech Hawks at 7:00 p.m. DeMotte Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.8 points per game this season.

Last Saturday, DeMotte Christian didn't have too much trouble with North Newton as they won 50-32.

Tony Bos and Tanyon Bakker were among the main playmakers for DeMotte Christian as the former went 9 of 14 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds and the latter went 5 of 12 on his way to 11 points and seven steals. Bos' evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

DeMotte Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 13 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Newton only posted six assists.

Meanwhile, Hammond Academy of Science & Tech came up short against Washington Township last Tuesday, falling 56-35. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 212th, while the Senators are ranked 105th).

Despite the loss, Hammond Academy of Science & Tech saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jeffery Patton almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Hammond Academy of Science & Tech's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for DeMotte Christian, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: DeMotte Christian has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 25.8 boards per game. However, it's not like Hammond Academy of Science & Tech struggles in that department as they've been averaging 24.2 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Everything went DeMotte Christian's way against Hammond Academy of Science & Tech in their previous meeting back in February, as DeMotte Christian made off with a 63-43 win.
