It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Rhea County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They skirted past the Cookeville Cavaliers 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Golden Eagles have posted since April 23, 2024.

Ella Wilkey was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two triples, two runs, and two RBI. Those triples were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Lakyn Lockhart, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Rhea County moved to 4-5 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Cookeville, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-5.

Rhea County has already played their next matchup, a 4-1 defeat against Cleveland on the 25th. As for Cookeville, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 14-0 win against LaVergne on the 25th.
