Basketball Preview: North Brunswick Scorpions vs. New Hanover Wildcats
North Brunswick is on a 11-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while the Wildcats are on a nine-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The North Brunswick Scorpions will take on the New Hanover Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Even though Topsail scored an imposing 56 points on Friday, North Brunswick still came out on top. North Brunswick blew past the Pirates 76-56. Given North Brunswick's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while the Pirates are ranked 373rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
North Brunswick's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Malakhi Daniels, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Daniels hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew McKenny, who scored 11 points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, New Hanover humbled the Cougars with a 68-32 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-14.
North Brunswick is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for New Hanover, their victory bumped their record up to 20-0.
