Flag Football Recap: Saturday's Victory Is Lakes' Seventh in Last Eight Outings

Lakes never got on the board in their matchup on Wednesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Deerfield on Saturday. They strolled past the Warriors with points to spare, taking the game 39-20. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois flag football rankings (they are ranked 28th, while the Warriors are ranked 100th).

Makayla Williams had an outrageously good game as she rushed for 166 yards and two scores on only eight carries. Those 166 rushing yards gave her a new career-high. Kayla Rojas made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

Lakes didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Ryan Horvath and Sarah Annexstad were the leaders of the group effort as each produced two apiece. Rojas got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Lakes has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 34.8 points over those games. As for Deerfield, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-10.

As of now, neither Lakes nor the Warriors have any future games scheduled.
