Basketball Recap: Hardin Northern Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Hardin Northern, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They skirted past the Waynesfield-Goshen Tigers 62-60. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Polar Bears also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Hardin Northern had a senior duo take command as Andrew Sutton dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards and Christian Rostorfer went 5 of 10 on his way to 14 points and three steals. Those 13 rebounds set a new season-high mark for Sutton. Another player making a difference was Nolan Hopson, who posted eight points and six assists.

Hardin Northern smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Hardin Northern's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6. As for Waynesfield-Goshen, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Hardin Northern didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 56-35 defeat against Van Buren on the 11th. As for Waynesfield-Goshen, they will look to defend their home court on January 17th against North Baltimore at 7:30 p.m.
