Basketball Game Preview: Natomas Nighthawks vs. Woodland Wolves

The Natomas Nighthawks will face off against the Woodland Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Natomas has six straight wins, Woodland has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Friday, Natomas was fully in charge, breezing past Dixon 79-36. The Nighthawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 20 points or more this season.

Natomas found their leader in sophomore Aeron Wallace, who went 8 for 14 en route to 24 points and five boards. That's the most points Wallace has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Diego Villanueva, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 17 points.

Natomas smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Woodland played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Casa Roble 105-45. The Wolves were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-30.

Natomas is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.2 points per game. As for Woodland, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.

Everything came up roses for Natomas against Woodland when the teams last played back in January, as the squad secured a 71-40 victory. Does Natomas have another victory up their sleeve, or will Woodland turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
