Basketball Recap: Gavin Thalheim's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Northern Valley over Golden Plains

In Friday's Canine Competition, Northern Valley had to take the L. They took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Golden Plains Bulldogs on Friday. The Huskies were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bulldogs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Northern Valley lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Gavin Thalheim, who posted 23 points. The match was his third in a row with at least 23 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tait Thalheim, who went 6-for-13 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Northern Valley's defeat was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Golden Plains, their victory bumped their record up to 7-12.

Coming up, Northern Valley will look to defend their home court on February 22nd against Greeley County at 5:00 p.m. As for Golden Plains, they are taking a road trip to challenge Rawlins County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Golden Plains is facing Rawlins County at the right time seeing as Rawlins County is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
