Volleyball Recap: Wayne Comes Up Short

Wayne lost against Guardian Angels Central Catholic last Saturday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Blue Devils came up short against the Bluejays, falling 3-0. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Blue Devils have suffered since October 28, 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-15, 25-15.

Alexis Legler paced Wayne's offense, picking up 11 kills. Legler got some help from Mallory Redden and her 20 assists. Megan Magnuson controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Emma Cohee was nothing short of spectacular for Guardian Angels Central Catholic: she had 39 assists and seven digs. Cohee is on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 20 or more in each of the last 16 games she's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Wegner, who had eight digs and two aces.

Wayne has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 9-1.

Wayne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 3-0 win against Lutheran-Northeast on the 18th. As for Guardian Angels Central Catholic, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 victory against O'Neill on the 18th.
