Softball Recap: Alcorn Central Takes a Loss

Alcorn Central might've scored the first runs on Tuesday, but it was Mantachie who claimed the real prize. The Bears fell just short of the Mustangs by a score of 6-5. The Bears have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Sydnee Norman spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and five unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 14 Ks.

On the hitting side, Journey Phillips was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Adysen Davis, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one triple.

Alcorn Central's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for Mantachie, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Mustangs beat Alcorn Central by a score of 11-2 on Wednesday.
