Basketball Game Preview: South Newton Rebels vs. Carroll Cougars

The South Newton Rebels will challenge the Carroll Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in South Newton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matches.

Last Tuesday, South Newton was able to grind out a solid victory over North Newton, taking the game 59-48.

Colton Marks went supernova for South Newton, going 6-for-12 en route to 22 points and five steals. Marks' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Owen Firkins, who posted 15 points.

Meanwhile, on FridayTaylor kept up with Carroll until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. Carroll put the hurt on Taylor with a sharp 49-28 win. The Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

South Newton's victory ended a nine-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-14. As for Carroll, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.
