Baseball Game Preview: Bishop Amat Lancers vs. Serra Cavaliers

For the second straight game, Bishop Amat will face off against Serra. The Lancers will head out to square off against the Cavaliers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Amat will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Bishop Amat had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 13-run drubbing they dealt Serra on Wednesday. The Lancers' pitchers stepped up to hand the Cavaliers a 13-0 shutout. That 13-run margin sets a new team best for the Lancers this season.

Izaac Muniz looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Bishop Amat got a massive performance out of Joaquin Ortiz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Ortiz has become a key player for the Lancers: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-9 otherwise. Omar Arretche was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
