Flag Football Recap: Douglas County Wins High-Profile Contest Against Chaparral

Douglas County faced Chaparral in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Huskies snuck past the Wolverines with a 12-6 win. For the Huskies, this counts as revenge for the 27-18 victory the Wolverines walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Douglas County didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mariia Dykalenko and Claire Haselhorst. Dykalenko is on a roll when it comes to interceptions, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played.

The win (which was Douglas County's third in a row) raised their record to 11-3. The victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.0 points on average over those games. As for Chaparral, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-3.

Douglas County has already played their next contest, a 19-14 win against Cherry Creek on the 11th. As for Chaparral, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 38-0 victory against Ponderosa on the 11th.
