Basketball Recap: Lee County Takes a Loss + How To Watch

Lee County had lost eight straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-1 to make it nine. They took a 34-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Apex Friendship Patriots. The matchup was a 12-12 toss-up at halftime, but the Yellow Jackets couldn't quite close it out.

Cherish Smith was Lee County's leading scorer, having posted nine points. Smith also led the team in assists with two. Kallie Byrd held things down on the boards with ten rebounds.

As for Apex Friendship, the win got them back to even at 1-1. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Lee County: they've now won eight in a row.

Among those leading the charge was Jordan Rooney, who posted 17 points and three steals. What's more, she also posted an 80% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Luwam Beniyam was another key player, putting up three points.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lee County will venture away from home to take on Jordan-Matthews at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Apex Friendship, they will head out to face off against Corinth Holders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
