Softball Recap: Wheeling Comes Up Short

Wheeling lost against Elmwood Park back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Wheeling took a 12-9 hit to the loss column at the hands of Elmwood Park.

Viansa Pollina was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Caitlyn Fitzgerald, who went 1-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Wheeling dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Wheeling Wildcats challenge Regina Dominican Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Elmwood Park, they will square off against ITW David Speer Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. ITW David Speer Academy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12 runs per game on average), something Elmwood Park will no doubt try to take advantage of.
