Softball Recap: Gallatin County Hawks vs. Fairfield Mules
Gallatin County extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping their season record down to 2-7 in the process. They lost 15-0 to the Fairfield Mules. The Hawks were not able to make up for their defeat to the Mules from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
As for Fairfield, their win bumped their record up to 8-10. Considering they have won six contests by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
For Fairfield's part, Kenry Hutchcraft made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Hutchcraft a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Serenity Dagg was a standout: she went 1-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Jocelynn Lee was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gallatin County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Harrisburg at 4:30 p.m. on May 8. As for Fairfield, they will head out to challenge Carmi-White County at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
