Baseball Recap: Caden Owen's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cardinal Newman over Windsor

Cardinal Newman fought the good fight in their extra-innings contest against Windsor on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 2-1 to the Jaguars, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Jaguars this season, with their most recent defeat being a 2-1 loss on Wednesday.

Cardinal Newman saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caden Owen, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Cardinal Newman's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-10. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only 1.33 runs. As for Windsor, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.

Cardinal Newman will head out to face off against Rancho Cotate at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Windsor, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Oakland Tech at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
