Baseball Recap: The Carmel School Wildcats vs. Colonial Beach Drifters
The Carmel School extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 1-8 in the process. They lost 16-5 to the Colonial Beach Drifters. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Drifters this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-5 on April 2nd.
As for Colonial Beach, they moved to 6-7 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. The result was nothing new for the Drifters, who have now won four matchups by seven runs or more so far this season.
For Colonial Beach's part, they got a massive performance out of George Oliver, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave Oliver a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Zachary Papanicolas, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Carmel School will head out to challenge Richmond Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Colonial Beach, they will venture away from home to take on Essex at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
