Basketball Recap: Nottoway Comes Up Short

Nottoway lost against Colonial Heights back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Nottoway Cougars were outmatched by the Colonial Heights Colonials and fell 64-31. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-13.

Despite the loss, Nottoway had strong showings from Hailie Turner, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds, and Anna Lee, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 13 rebounds. Turner is crushing it when it comes to boards: she's pulled down at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Lorraine Wilson was another key player, putting up two points and eight rebounds.

Even though they lost, Nottoway smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 24 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 17 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matches.

Nottoway dropped their record down to 2-3 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Colonial Heights, they moved to 2-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Nottoway didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-38 win against Lunenburg Central on the 19th. As for Colonial Heights, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 62-33 loss against Prince George on the 17th.
