Preview: Northeast Vikings vs. George Washington Eagles

The Northeast Vikings and the George Washington Eagles will round out the year against one another at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Northeast has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 451 points over their last seven games.

Last Tuesday, Northeast strolled past String Theory with points to spare, taking the game 58-43. Given Northeast's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 114th, while String Theory is ranked 469th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Northeast got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Darrius Gaeta out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds. Those ten rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Michael Freeman was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, George Washington was able to grind out a solid victory over High School of the Future on Wednesday, taking the game 51-44. The victory made it back-to-back wins for George Washington.

George Washington can attribute much of their success to Reinaldo Torrech, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 11 rebounds, and Anderson Dorvil, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.

Northeast pushed their record up to 8-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for George Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.

Northeast was able to grind out a solid win over George Washington in their previous matchup back in January, winning 49-41. Does Northeast have another victory up their sleeve, or will George Washington turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
