Basketball Recap: Lovington Victorious

Carlsbad came into Tuesday's matchup looking for another win against Lovington, but Kayle Covington wouldn't allow it. The Lovington Wildcats came out on top against the Carlsbad Cavemen/Cavegirls by a score of 54-42 on Tuesday thanks in part to Covington, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 15 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Lovington's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Mika Pando, who posted 12 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in December of 2024.

Lovington's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Carlsbad, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Lovington Wildcats duke it out with the Jal Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Jal has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Carlsbad has already played their next contest (against Goddard), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
