Basketball Recap: Manvel Now 7-1 over Last Eight Games

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Manvel had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Fort Bend Austin Bulldogs by a score of 55-45. Given the Mavericks' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 89th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 200th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fort Bend Austin lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Andrea Sturdivant, who posted 16 points in addition to six rebounds and six steals. That was a full 35.6% of Fort Bend Austin's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aminah Dixon, who went 7-for-15 on her way to 17 points and six boards.

Manvel is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 27-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.1 points over those games. As for Fort Bend Austin, their defeat dropped their record down to 22-11.

Manvel has already played their next match (against Clear Brook), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Fort Bend Austin does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
