Baseball Recap: Edison Beats Highlands for Their Fifth Straight Win

Edison came tearing into Tuesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Highlands Owls get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. Considering the Golden Bears have won five matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Highlands' batters probably weren't too happy with Jayden Beltran, who pitched a no hitter and racked up ten Ks (he gave up five walks).

At the plate, Edison let Sergio Villarreal and Xavier Martinez run wild. Villarreal scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Martinez scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Those three hits gave Villarreal a new career-high. Noah Soto also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Edison hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highlands struck out nine times.

Edison pushed their record up to 11-4 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Highlands, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12-1 record this season.

Coincidentally, Edison and Highlands will both be playing Burbank the next time they take the field. The Golden Bears will head out to face the Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Owls will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
