Basketball Recap: Fairfax Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

Fairfax won the last time they faced University and things went their way on Monday too. The Fairfax Lions took down the University Wildcats 54-37. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 260th, while the Wildcats are ranked 779th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, University still got an impressive performance from Orpheu Cummings, who went 6 of 10 on his way to 14 points and six boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Kahmron Hill, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

Fairfax is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-10 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.2 points per game. As for University, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-9.

When Fairfax and University next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Fairfax will take on Venice and their four-game winning streak at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, University will try to stop Westchester's four-game winning streak when the meet at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
