2015 Maine Preseason Football Fab 5, presented by the Army National Guard

1. Thornton Academy (Saco)
Coach: Kevin Kezal
2014 finish: 10-1
Team preview

Winner of the Class A state championship two of the past three seasons, Thornton Academy appears to be the favorite again as 12 starters return from a 10-1 championship team. Leading the way is all-state quarterback Austin McCrum, a three-year starter who threw for 1,596 yards and 17 touchdowns as a junior. All-conference receiver Corey Hart also returns, as does guard Elijiah Ayotte.

2. Marshwood (South Berwick)
Coach: Alex Rotsko
2014 finish:
12-0

Marshwood went undefeated in 2014 while winning the Class B state championship. The Hawks return four starters on both sides of the ball, including top receiver Ryan O'neil (5-foot-10, 175 pounds). A pair of kids named Zach are expected to be leaders on offense and defense. Zach Doyon (6-2, 195) will get the bulk of the carries at running back while Zach Mitchell (6-0, 240) will anchor the defense at middle linebacker.

3. Windham
Coach: Matt Perkins
2014 finish: 9-2
Team preview

The Eagles reached the Class A state championship game last season, falling to Thornton Academy in the championship game. Windham is expected to challenge for a state title again this year under State Coach of the Year Matt Perkins. He returns his top running back from last year in Dylan Koza as well as offensive lineman Tyrell Gullatt.

4. Winslow
Coach: Mike Siviski
2014 finish: 11-0
Team preview

Winslow will miss running back Dylan Hapworth, who scored seven touchdowns in the Class C state championship game last year and was named Central Maine's player of the year. However, a number of all-area players return, including guard Alecxander Clark, defensive end Luke Fredette, defensive tackle Nathaniel Beckwith and defensive back Jacob Trask. Winslow has reached the state championship game the past three seasons and has won five state championships under Siviski.

5. Oak Hill (Sabattus)
Coach: Stacen Doucette
2014 finish: 11-1
Team preview

Winner of the past two Class D state championships, Oak Hill could be even better this year. The Raiders have 16 starters returning, eight on each side of the ball, and have an undefeated JV team moving up. Oak Hill returns quarterback Dalton Therrien, as well as offensive lineman Austin Goucher (6-4, 225) and running back Levi Buteau.
