Volleyball Recap: Elizabethton Comes Up Short

Elizabethton was the 3-0 winner over Chuckey-Doak when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Fighting Cyclones took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Black Knights on Tuesday.

Elizabethton was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Chuckey-Doak work for it, especially in the fourth set. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 15-25, 26-24.

Jasy Shell paced Elizabethton's offense, picking up 19 kills. Shell got some help from Abby Gwinn and her 26 assists. Gwinn was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Elizabethton's defeat dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Chuckey-Doak, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Elizabethton is set to take on their familiar foe Unicoi County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Chuckey-Doak will square off against rival Sullivan East at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
