Basketball Game Preview: Wylie Pirates vs. Rockwall-Heath Hawks

The Wylie Pirates will square off against the Rockwall-Heath Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Wylie knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matches -- so hopefully Rockwall-Heath likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, Wylie didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Sachse, but they still walked away with a 73-67 win. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 157th, while the Mustangs are ranked 338th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Rockwall-Heath entered their game against Tyler Legacy on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Rockwall-Heath took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tyler Legacy. While the Hawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Raiders 19-15 in the first quarter.

Wylie will need to focus on slowing down Hadrian Reitsma, one of several Rockwall-Heath players who made an impact when they last played. He went 6-for-10 to rack up 13 points. Another player making a difference was Christian Cranford, who posted 16 points and five boards.

Wylie's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 22-11. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points over those games. As for Rockwall-Heath, their loss dropped their record down to 23-9.

Wylie suffered a grim 66-41 defeat to Rockwall-Heath when the teams last played back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rockwall-Heath's Kaleb Turner-Dicus, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
