Volleyball Recap: South Effingham's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

It was a good run, but South Effingham unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell 2-0 to the Cartersville Hurricanes.

Clara Vorel paced South Effingham's offense, picking up 11 kills. Vorel got some help from Leah Magana and her 19 assists. Magana was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Aubree Barrett was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had eight digs and two aces. That's the most digs she has posted since back in November of 2024.

South Effingham's loss dropped their record down to 31-10. As for Cartersville, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 35-6.

Coming up, South Effingham will square off against The Habersham School at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cartersville, they will take on McEachern at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
