After both having extra time off, the Farmington Phoenix and the Layton Lancers will shake off the rust and duke it out at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Farmington and six for Layton.
Farmington came up short against Syracuse on Tuesday, falling 3-0.
Farmington was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the third set very close. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-12, 25-23.

Farmington's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kole Riebe, who had 18 digs and two aces, and Kylee Day, who had 11 assists. Riebe has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more digs the last 16 times she's played.
Meanwhile, Layton came up short against Weber on Tuesday and fell 3-1.
While Layton had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-18, 18-25, 25-20.
Layton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-18. As for Farmington, their loss dropped their record down to 9-18.
Farmington was able to grind out a solid victory over Layton in their previous meeting back in September, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Phoenix since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
