Volleyball Recap: Parkway West Comes Up Short

Parkway West entered their match against Lafayette on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Longhorns lost 3-0 to the Lancers. If the Longhorns were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to the Lancers when the teams met back in October of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Parkway West was held off the scoreboard, but that almost wasn't the case: they kept the second set very close. The match finished with set scores of 25-14, 25-23, 25-15.

Katie Byergo paced Parkway West's offense, picking up 11 kills. Byergo got some help from Elle Lanfersieck and her 21 assists. Lanfersieck was also a major player on defense: she and Sophie Gansen shared the team lead in blocks, finishing with two each.

Addy Wiese was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 11 digs and four assists.

Parkway West's loss dropped their record down to 14-9-1. As for Lafayette, the win (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 24-1.

Parkway West didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 1-1 tie against Parkway Central on the 11th. As for Lafayette, they have also already played their next match, a 2-0 victory against Fayetteville on the 10th.
