Baseball Recap: Vandalia Comes Up Short

Vandalia had lost six straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-11 to make it seven. They came up short against the Pana Panthers, falling 11-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Vandals have suffered against the Panthers since April 12, 2019.

Vandalia saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jack Lewis, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double. Andrew Casey also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

As for Pana, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.2 runs over those games.

On Pana's side, Madyx Angel was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three doubles. Those six RBI gave Angel a new career-high. Easton Malisia was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and one RBI.

While Vandalia had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
