Baseball Recap: Saguaro Has No Trouble Against Thunderbird

With a playoff win on the line, Saguaro rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They blew past the Thunderbird Titans 11-1. For the Sabercats, this counts as revenge for the 8-4 victory the Titans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2022.

Nate Wachinski looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Saguaro's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is 7-2 (and 8-9-1 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zander Bratspis, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Kyle Miiller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Saguaro was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Saguaro is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-11-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.4 runs over those games. As for Thunderbird, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-10.

As of now, neither Saguaro nor the Titans have any future games scheduled.
