Basketball Recap: Oak Park Makes It 20 in a Row at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Oak Park). The stars were shining brightly for them in an 81-64 win over the Sunrise Christian Academy Buffaloes on Friday. The victory was nothing new for the Northmen as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Despite the loss, Sunrise Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Marko Pavlovic, who went 9 of 20 en route to 25 points along with eight boards and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Canaan McElroy, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 15 points.

Oak Park's win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.9 points per game. As for Sunrise Christian Academy, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-2 record.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Oak Park and Park Hill will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Oak Park has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Sunrise Christian Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Hesston at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025. Sunrise Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Hesston likes a good challenge.
