Mount Desert Island dropped their record down to 5-3 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Hermon Hawks. Having soared to a lofty 13 runs in the game before, the Trojans' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

As for Hermon, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.8 runs.

For Hermon's part, Mikelle Verrill made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over five innings pitched. Verrill has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Addy Waning was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Molly Simcox, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.

Coming up, Mount Desert Island will square off against Bucksport at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Bucks will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hermon, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-3 win against Ellsworth on the 15th.
