I Sunrise - Northeast recap Oct. 30, 2012
Green Valley extended the longest winning streak in I Sunrise - Northeast this week by beating Canyon Springs, 33-32. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Silverado took down Rancho 37-9 last week, the largest margin of any game. Alex Cater ran for 247 yards in the win.
Las Vegas's dynamic duo of Trevor Swenson and Joshua Mayfield proved tough for Valley to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Swenson threw for 130 yards and two touchdowns and Mayfield had 77 yards receiving. Tevin Johnson helped Las Vegas' passing attack out by catching two balls for 15 yards.
The Wildcats' Swenson and Mayfield have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Swenson has thrown for 1392 yards this season, while Mayfield, a 5-foot-10 receiver, has 39 catches for 542 yards. The Skyhawks' Cater leads the league in rushing yards with 1953.
The marquee game in the league this week will be the clash between the Pioneers and Las Vegas. Canyon Springs enters the game ranked 10th in the state, while the Wildcats ranks 17th.
