Softball Recap: Mountain View Mavericks vs. Meridian Warriors
Mountain View lost to Meridian back in April of 2025, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Mavericks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the Warriors. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Mavericks have posted since April 24, 2025.

Mya Penner made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Courtney Austin was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Nia Hall, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Mountain View has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Meridian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-10.
