Football Recap: Victory Christian Comes Up Short

Victory Christian came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against the Perkins-Tryon Demons, falling 64-7. Having soared to a lofty 33 points in the game before, the Conquerors couldn't push the score so high this time.

Wyatt Atkinson produced another solid performance rushing for 210 yards and four TDs while picking up 10.5 yards per carry, and also picking up 30 receiving yards and one score for Perkins-Tryon. Atkinson didn't just play on offense: he also made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss) and defended three passes. Another player making a difference was Westin Atkinson, who gained 88 total yards and three touchdowns.

Victory Christian has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-5 record this season. As for Perkins-Tryon, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-2.
