Baseball Game Preview: Springfield Catholic Fighting Irish vs. Fair Grove Eagles

The Springfield Catholic Fighting Irish will face off against the Fair Grove Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Springfield Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Ozark, taking the game 6-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fighting Irish.

Meanwhile, Fair Grove had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Wolves. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matches by seven runs or more this season.

Fair Grove's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Springfield Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 10-7.

Springfield Catholic couldn't quite finish off Fair Grove when the teams last played on Monday and fell 3-1. Can the Fighting Irish avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
