Yucaipa won the last time they faced Palm Desert, and Deace Turner did his part to make sure it happened again. The Thunderbirds took down the Aztecs 37-21 on Friday thanks in part to Turner, who rushed for 152 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 109 rushing yards per game.

Yucaipa's defense made their presence known, laying out Alfred 'AJ' Rivera Jr.. three times. Tyler Pyle refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself.

Defeat or not, Palm Desert got some senior leadership from Jonah Toland and Rivera Jr.. Toland picked up 162 receiving yards and a pair of TDs, while Rivera Jr. threw for 289 yards and two touchdowns. Those 162 receiving yards set a new season-high mark for Toland.

The win made it two in a row for Yucaipa and bumps their season record up to 2-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.0 points over those games. As for Palm Desert, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yucaipa will take on Palm Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Thunderbirds will be up against the Indians' rather soft defense (which has allowed 30.5 points per match), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Palm Desert, they will face off against Redlands at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
